How to use customer interviews and experiments to build a product customers will love: The case of the startup Sellio
Today lean customer development has become crucial for the success of any business. It is a way to reduce business risks while ensuring that customers love and really need the products we build. During this talk, I will first illustrate concrete examples on how the startup Sellio gathered and integrated customer feedback to develop and validate their product idea - responding to questions such as: How to ask for an interview?, What questions are best to understand user needs? What are common mistakes? Thereafter, I will demonstrate how Sellio tested product-market fit by using two kind of Minimal Viable Products (MVP) experiments: the Wizard of Oz and the Concierge test. Finally, I will talk about how Sellio used customer interviews to decide on its scaling strategy. Sellio is one of East Africas fastest growing software companies; it helps small businesses to easily market and sell online.
